FAQ

What are modules?

MinumOS, the software that runs our simulators, is designed to be extensible so you can add more content to shoot on your simulator over time. Content is available for purchase in downloadable modules that are easily loaded into MinumOS.

Does the simulator require a subscription?

Unlike most things these days, no subscription is required! Once you purchase a module, it is yours to shoot as much as you'd like.

Does the Minum Archery Simulator score your shots for you or do you need to score manually?

Unlike other systems on the market, ours will sense your arrow and score your shot for you.

What distance should I shoot from?

Our system technically will work from any distance! However, we recommend 10-20 yards as beyond this some of the photos and videos get pretty small (but have at it if you like a challenge!)

Does it work outdoors?

Yes. Unlike other systems which require very dark rooms, ours does work with just a little shade and cover (a popup tent is perfect). However, it is recommended to not leave the screen or any of the electronics out in the elements for any extended period of time and to make sure things always stay dry.

If you primarily will shoot the simulator on particularly sunny days as well, you may want to consider a brighter projector. Our Simulator 2.0 comes with a 3000 ANSI lumen projector by default. This is what was used in our outdoor videos. If you would like to upgrade to something brighter, please contact us for a quote.

Can I use a compound bow?

Yes. The simulator works great with a wide variety of bows, from lightweight recurves, all the way up to heavyweight compound bows.

Can I use a crossbow?

Our simulator is so far untested with crossbows so we cannot recommend it.

What is the difference between MinumOS and MInumOS Remote?

MinumOS is the brains of the simulator. Available as a free download, or pre-installed on the Simulator 2.1 computer, it runs the different modules, scores shots, and calibrates the sensor to the projected image on screen. MinumOS Remote, on the other hand, is an android app that interfaces with MinumOS over a local network connection (no internet required) to enable wireless remote control of MinumOS from the shooting line. This makes it easy to select modules, press continue after collecting arrows, and pause when needed without running long cables.
